Senior Major Golf Championships

Each club is expected to host a golf tournament once every five or six years. The growth of the International Seniors Amateur Golf Society, formally organized in 1970, continues today. Whether you are an amateur or a professional, golf does not have a gender set as to who can golf and who cannot. For the past eight years, the tournament has generated a donation to the Evansville Junior Golf Association. The remarkable growth of senior golf prompted the USGA to establish the Senior Amateur Championship in 1955. Senior golf is not just for men, many women compete professionally just as well as the men do.

The Senior Amateur was added to the schedule in 1955. To learn more and to download an application, visit the Senior PGA Championship Web site. The best players on the Senior Tour are all going to be there ready to take on one of the toughest courses in the country. Every effort will be made to deliver your PGA Senior Championship tickets as soon as possible. The good news is 2014 Senior Four-Ball Championship is full. The schedule for the 2014 season will be coming out shortly.

Both players went to the 18th hole tee box for the sudden death format. Colin Montgomerie finished a creditable joint sixth with a closing, bogey-free round of 70 for 210. Brewer was one under par after round one and shot two birdies in round two. Former Senior National Champion Dennis Brady of Orlando, Florida, held the first-round with a 70, but finished second after a 76 in the final round. The easiest hole by far is the par-5 15th, where the field made 85 birdies over the first two days. Naidoo who recorded a flawless round of 68 on the first day held a one shot lead coming up the last hole.

All players must be 55 years and over and two must be 60 years and Over. The 18th and 17th holes ranked second and third, respectively, in difficulty. Individual stroke play, 36 holes, with players flighted after 18 holes. Each match will consist of one round of 18 holes except the Final which will be over 36 holes. The Senior City Championship is an enjoyable 36-hole format, with 18-holes played at each course. After three years as a 36-hole event the tournament was expanded to 72 holes.

No refunds will be given after the start of the tournament. Due to the association with the PGA, the course has been and is being systematically upgraded. You may not be able to have your typical partner. The fairway is a better place to be than the rough. An escape in the third and two late takedowns were enough for the major decision. The decision of the AGA in any matter shall be final.

Entry fees at each tournament includes the golf cart and prizes. River Creek Club in Leesburg, Va., will be the co-host of the first and second round. A golf ball is round, and a flagstick is straight. The cart fee for the practice round is not included. The cost is $75/person or $300/team and includes your food, drinks, round of golf and golf cart. Acker was 4 under through his first 6 holes before settling with a stellar round at a very tough golf course.
